A Surgeon’s Unexpected Take on Obesity: What works, what doesn’t and how learnings from today can inform a new tomorrow
November 12, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm UTC-5Free
How has our understanding of obesity changed?
What does this mean for innovation?
Bariatric Surgeon-turned-Medical Affairs professional Elliott Fegelman, MD discusses these questions and more from both a clinical and product development perspective. Dr. Fegelman demystifies some of the reasons behind weight gain and the rising prevalence of obesity around the globe, and why fad diets often crash as quickly as their rise to popularity. He also tackles why surgery works – but not for the reasons we historically thought – and how new findings about the physiology of obesity can lead to a new treatment paradigm.
