Project Highlight:
Delivering Xenon Therapy to Protect Brain Cells

Following the groundbreaking success of using Xenon gas to help protect brain cells post-cardiac arrest, a startup of scientists and clinicians called NPXe partnered with Kaleidoscope to develop a device capable of delivering Xenon therapy for the treatment.

Working collaboratively with our Design Research, Industrial Design, and Digital Design & Development teams, the Kaleidoscope Engineering team invented the new device by rebuilding a conventional ventilator from the ground up, allowing for closed-loop functionality to deliver Xenon gas. The Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacture (DFM) work included complete layout and specifications of internal and external components.

Our team worked very closely with the NPXe scientists and stakeholders to deliver these ready to manufacture plan in a record 9 months, significantly exceeding the expectations of the startup’s investors.

Kaleidoscope’s engineers increased the speed of our innovation, generating more ideas and physical prototypes and iterating through numerous design options to get to functional designs that would meet our technical and consumer requirements. Their team’s creativity, agility, and engineering expertise were critical.
